Ireland international Leavy eyes up move to Europe as discussions continue with St Pat's

The 42 understands that Leavy wishes to continue playing with the Inchicore side if he is to remain in the League of Ireland.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND international Kian Leavy is hopeful of moving to a club in Europe as he remains in discussions with St Pat’s about exploring a new deal.

The 42 understands that Leavy’s preference is to continue his club football career in Europe rather than the UK when his contract with St Pat’s expires. However, if he is to remain in the League of Ireland, he would like to keep playing with the Inchicore outfit.

A squad update from the club today reads that Leavy is among six players who are in discussions regarding new contract offers. He has been the subject of interest from Hibernian, Doncaster Rovers and a club in Sweden.

Leavy made his senior debut for Ireland this summer when he came off the bench in the second half of a 1-1 draw against Canada.

Goalkeeper Joseph Anang has been in talks with St Pat’s for months about a new deal, and The 42 understands that he is weighing up different options in England’s League One.

Sean Molloy, Romal Palmer, Simon Power and Danny Rogers are also still discussing their futures with St Pat’s.

Club stalwart Chris Forrester is among several players who will remain under contract for the 2027 season. The 42 understands that St Pat’s want to retain his services as Forrester eyes up a move elsewhere after earning limited game-time under Stephen Kenny.

The squad update also reveals that Jason Folarin-Oyenuga, Luke Kehir and Max Mata will leave the club after their contracts expire later this month.

“Mata arrived in Inchicore ahead of the 2026 campaign but unfortunately had an injury disrupted season which limited him to just 15 appearances. His last minute winner away at Shelbourne was a highlight.

“Kehir, who joined at U13s and Folarin-Oyenuga, who joined at U17s, both had great success in our Academy before signing professional contracts. They continued their development with loan spells in the First Division over the last 2 seasons.

“We wish Max, Luke and Jason well for the future.”
