Tommy Walsh to feature for Irish squad in Hurling/Shinty International

Cork’s Shane O’Neill and Patrick Horgan, and Offaly’s Shane Dooley are other major names in line to feature in the two tests against Scotland.

KILKENNY STAR Tommy Walsh, Cork duo Shane O’Neill and Patrick Horgan and Offaly’s Shane Dooley are the marquee names on the Irish panel that will clash against Scotland in this year’s Hurling/Shinty International series.

The Irish squad, which will be managed by new Carlow boss and former Cork player John Meyler and Kilkenny’s Michael Walsh, was announced today for the two tests.

Ireland will travel to Bught Park in Inverness on Saturday October 20th to face Scotland at 1.15pm before then renewing acquaintances with their counterparts in Cusack Park in Ennis on Saturday October 27th at 2.05pm.

Both games are set to be broadcast live on TG4. The Irish team will be captained by Westmeath’s Eoin Price.

There will also be an U21 international before the senior clash in Ennis and that will take place on Friday October 26th at 7pm under lights in the St Joseph’s-Doora Barefield club in Ennis.

The major names in the Irish side will be Seadna Morey and Tony Kelly, senior players and All-Ireland U21 winners with Clare this year, and Limerick senior attacker Kevin Downes.

The Irish U21 team will be managed by Gregory O’Kane (Antirm) and Jeffrey Lynskey (Galway) and captained by Kerry’s Shane Nolan.
