Ireland's final warm-up in Budapest confirmed

Trap’s team will make a visit to the Hungarian capital before heading on to Poland for Euro 2012, the FAI said today.

IRELAND WILL TRAVEL to Hungary for their final preparation game before Euro 2012, it was confirmed today.

The FAI yesterday announced details of plans to hold a pre-tournament training camp in Italy after a friendly with Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Aviva Stadium on May 26.

And in a press release this afternoon, they have said that an agreement has been made with the Hungarian FA to host a fixture in Budapest’s Puskas Ference Stadium on June 4.

The 37th-placed team in the world didn’t qualify for this summer’s tournament as they finished third in Group E behind Holland and Sweden. Sandor Egervari’s side did record an impressive 2-1 win over the Swedes in September, however.

Ireland play the Czech Republic at the end of this month and Giovanni Trapattoni is set to name his squad on Friday.

The team’s programme is as follows:

May 26                                 Republic of Ireland v Bosnia Herzegovina, Aviva

May 27                                 Pre-training camp, Montecatini, Italy

June 3                                   Transfer from Montecatini to Budapest

June 4                                   Hungary v Republic of Ireland, Budapest

June 5                                   UEFA EURO 2012 training camp, Gdynia, Poland

June 10                                 Republic of Ireland v Croatia, Poznan, Poland

June 14                                 Spain v Republic of Ireland, Gdansk, Poland

June 18                                 Italy v Republic of Ireland, Poznan, Poland
