IF YOU ARE looking to get out on your mountain bike this weekend and seek a few thrills and spills in the process, Rostrevor may be just what you are looking for. The biking trails, located in Co Down, are one of only three top-class facilities in the country and rank as the most exhilarating among  mountain bikers.

TheScore.ie asked Kevin Ryan from Irish Downhill to wax lyrical about Rostrevor and he duly obliged. He said, “Set in the Mourne Mountains and overlooking the beautiful Carlingford Lough, there are top class facilities and over 45km of some of the best cycling trails across a number of disciplines. If you have any sort of connection to the cycling community, you will have heard about them.”

“Rostrevor boasts two downhill mountain bike trails,” Ryan added. “They are the first, official mountain bike trails in the country and offer stunning views and exciting, challenging terrain. It has always had a good history with downhill mountain bike racing and the official trails have played host to past rounds of the Irish Downhill Mountain Bike Series along with high profile events like the World Police and Fire Games and Red Bull’s annual ‘Foxhunt’ event.

A chest-cam video is above while the following [helmet-cam] clip should give you a further taste for what awaits once you set off down one of the two tracks.
