Ireland's Jack Byrne makes long-awaited competitive debut in Holland

IRELAND u21 INTERNATIONAL Jack Byrne started for SC Cambuur on his competitive debut for the Dutch club this evening.

The Manchester City midfielder, on loan at the Eredivisie side for the season, picked up an ankle injury during his first game back in July, but returned today to start in the league fixture against FC Twente.

Byrne played 61 minutes before being substituted for Jamiro Monteiro in the 0-0 draw.
