Jamie Vardy hopes for leniency as he accepts FA charge but requests personal hearing

The Leicester striker will miss the weekend’s clash with Swansea but could also get an additional ban for his behaviour against West Ham.

JAMIE VARDY IS seeking leniency from the FA after accepting their improper conduct charge but requesting a private hearing.

The Leicester City striker, who has been central to the team’s inexplicable rise to the top of the Premier League table, was sent-off by referee Jon Moss during his side’s 2-2 draw with West Ham last weekend.

Under normal circumstances, Vardy would merely miss one fixture but he faces an additional ban owing to his behaviour after Moss showed him a second yellow card.

Vardy angrily pointed a finger and swore at the official and he may now miss further games for the title-chasing Leicester because of the additional charge.

He has requested a personal hearing with the FA, though, and that will give him the chance to plead his case.

His last red card came while playing for Fleetwood in the Blue Square Premier League back in September 2011 so he can argue that the dismissal was out of character, along with his behaviour towards Moss.

It remains to be seen whether the FA will be lenient or if Leicester will have to do without their star attacker for longer than they’d like.
