Musical Delight

Is the world of snooker ready for 'Jimmy's Winning Matches'?

The soundtrack to the 2012 GAA season is set for a makeover.

REMEMBER ‘JIMMY’S WINNING MATCHES’?

Of course you do.

It was hard to miss out on hearing the song during last summer’s All-Ireland championship.

As Donegal marched on to claim the Sam Maguire last September – their first triumph since 1992 – the contribution of their charismatic manager Jimmy McGuinness was captured by singer Rory Gallagher.

Gallagher, a native of Kilcar who is based in Lanzarote, has now been asked to lend his musical offering to the world of snooker.

The singer revealed today on his Facebook page that he has been asked by an ITV production team to rewrite the song for a upcoming documentary on snooker legend Jimmy White.

“I have been asked by a production team from ITV to re-write ‘Jimmy’s Winning Matches’ for a documentary they are doing on the great snooker player Jimmy White! what a mad world. i used to love watching Jimmy White and Hurricane Higgins on the old grundig TV at my granny’s in Killybegs in the 1980s, she would be delighted.”
