You'll need more coffee: Steelers-Chiefs game time moved to Sunday night

They’re expecting a storm in Kansas.

THE NFL HAVE decided to push back the start time of the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers playoff game on Sunday because of expected cold weather in the Kansas City area.

Weather forecasters issued an ice storm warning for Sunday, prompting officials to change the start time to 8:20pm EST (1:20am Irish time).

“Due to public safety concerns in light of the forecasted storm this weekend in the Kansas City area, Sunday’s Steelers-Chiefs Divisional Playoff game on NBC has been moved,” the NFL said in a statement.

“Moving the game from the original start time will provide local authorities more time to clear roads in the area as the weather is expected to improve throughout Sunday. The decision to make this time change was made in consultation with state and local officials as well as the Chiefs and the Steelers.”

The National Weather Service is warning of a “dangerous and potentially crippling” situation with up to three-quarters of an inch of ice accumulating as the storm intensifies Saturday night, according to the Kansas City Star. The forecast for Sunday calls for a change from freezing rain to rain as the temperatures get warmer.

The kickoff time of the other playoff game on Sunday between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys will stay the same.
