Kerry triumph against Tipperary in Munster minor football final

The Kingdom won their first title in this grade since 2009.

Kerry 0-15
Tipperary 0-10

JACK SAVAGE KICKED 0-10 as Kerry defeated 14-man Tipperary in the Munster minor football championship final in Killarney this afternoon.

The Kingdom won their first title at this grade since 2009 with Kerins O’Rahilly’s player Savage leading the way from centre-forward.

Tipperary, chasing a third successive title at this grade, were hit by the sending-off of centre-forward Josh Keane before the interval.

The Premier stayed in the hunt thanks to captain Colin O’Riordan and his midfield partner Liam Casey who both shone as they kicked three points apiece.

Savage’s free-taking was central to Kerry building up a lead early on as he helped them move ahead by 0-5 to 0-2.

And inside attackers Killian Spillane, Shane O’Connor and Conor Keane all looked threatening as well for Mickey Ned O’Sullivan’s side as they moved ahead by 0-8 to 0-5 at the interval.

Tipperary started the second-half brilliantly and drew level at 0-8 apiece thanks to the efforts of Alan Tynan and Casey.

But Kerry took over in the final quarter with Savage pointing the way and goalkeeper Shane Ryan denied Tipperary net minder Jack Brady from the penalty spot in injury-time, as Kerry ran out victors by five points.
