An Irishman Abroad

At least one Irish striker found the net yesterday, as Kevin Doyle helped Colorado to a big win

His third goal of the MLS season.

KEVIN DOYLE HAS put the disappointment of not being in France aside to help Colorado Rapids to the top of the MLS western conference.

The Ireland striker narrowly missed out on Martin O’Neill’s 23-man squad for Euro 2016 but on a disappointing day for the national team, Doyle found the net again to fire his side to victory.

After a scoreless first half, Colorado hit the front through Doyle as he pounced on a defensive blunder from Chicago Fire.

The visitors did, however, level proceedings nine minutes from the end but Marco Pappa stepped up to hand the Rapids all three points.

It was Doyle’s third goal in 11 appearances this season with Colorado now three points clear of Dallas at the summit.
