Report: First Leinster title for Kilcormac/Killoughey

The Offaly champions recorded a four-point win over Oulart in the provincial SHC final at Nowlan Park today.

KILCORMAC/KILLOUGHEY CLAIMED their first ever Leinster club SHC title with a four-point win this afternoon.

The Offaly champions went into the game at Nowlan Park as underdogs, with many expecting Oulart-the-Ballagh of Wexford, in their third successful final, to prevail.

The game was seconds old when Rory Jacob pointed for Oulart but Kilcormac responded with a cracking goal from Daniel Currams.

Oulart were level again through a second score from Jacob and Conor O’Leary but found themselves three points down at the break.

There was a five-point gap between the sides after Ciaran Slevin's successful free. Oulart refused to roll over, however, and Nicky Kirwan kept them in with a shout.

David Redmond narrowed the gap to two points but that man Currams came up with the goods to get Kilcormac over the line - finding two more scores in his locker to leave it at 1-12 to 0-11 at the final whistle.
