New balls please! Tennis player takes brutal smash to the groin

We feel for you Martin Klizan.

"I'm fine. No, really, it's not too sore."

FOOTBALL IN THE groin: Tennis edition.

During the final set of their Australian Open first round clash, Stan Wawrinka accidentally injured his opponent with a smash straight to what wrestling commentators refer to as the ‘mid-section’.

The Swiss star immediately jumped the net to apologise and explained what happened to the media after the match.

“That was, for sure, a tough shot for him. The thing is there are some players they fake you, and you stop playing and then they just put up the racquet,” he told SMH.

“So for me I already miss some easy ones.

“For me the most important thing was to run straight over to him. I just wanted to make sure he was OK. I realised he was OK.

“I’m sorry I touched him in the wrong place. But I think it was OK at the end.”
