Clever or cheating? Korean goalkeeper has a unique way of putting off penalty takers

Not the most honourable bit of goalkeeping we’ve seen.

APPLAUD HIM, OR book him?

Most goalkeepers have a trick up their sleeve to try put off a penalty taker. Bruce Grobbelaar had the jelly legs, while Jerzy Dudek famously moved up and down the goal line to psyche out the AC Milan players in 2005.

This keeper in Korea however, has a much less subtle technique that’s flirting the fine line between gamesmanship and flat out cheating.

When Busan Ipark conceded a spot kick in a recent K-League Classic match, their keeper Lee Bum-Young unveiled his dastardly plan.

As his teammates distracted the referee by protesting the decision, the keeper set about digging up the penalty spot.

The resulting penalty was ballooned over the crossbar, much to the delight of his teammates.
