Libya call on Fingal's Zayed for international

Sporting Fingal striker called up to Libyan squad to face Zambia this Sunday.

SPORTING FINGAL FORWARD Eamon Zayed has been called up to the Libyan national team for this weekend’s home African Cup of Nations qualifier against Zambia, extratime.ie reports.

Zayed is currently travelling to Libya after being called by manager Marcos Paqueta. Zayed was born in Dublin but qualifies for Libya through his grandfather.

The striker is currently travelling to Libya, where he is expected to remain until early next week. Several scouts from Libyan teams are expected to attend Sunday’s match against Zambia.

Zayed is Fingal’s joint top scorer this season, with eight league goals. Before signing for Sporting he had played for Drogheda United and Bray Wanderers. After Zayed’s contract with Drogheda United ran out in 2008, he had trials with clubs in South Korea and Azerbaijan.

Should he play on Sunday, Zayed will become the first full international in Fingal’s short history.
