Newstalk commentator Dave McIntyre gets a frosty response from Louis van Gaal

Apparently questions about David de Gea’s future are off limits.

VIEWERS OF MATCH of the Day 2 last night may have spotted an unexpected cameo from Newstalk commentator Dave McIntyre.

McIntyre was on duty at Old Trafford for Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Liverpool, and afterwards he asked manager Louis van Gaal about David de Gea’s future.

The Spanish keeper, who was man of the match with a string of outstanding saves, is reportedly in talks over a five-year contract extension amid interest from Real Madrid.

But van Gaal batted away McIntyre’s perfectly reasonable question and nipped the conversation in the bud.

Here’s the exchange which drew a bit of a chuckle from the MOTD2 panel last night:

LVG: “That is between the club and the player and it is not open for discussion for the media.”

McIntyre: “But we’d still like to know…”

LVG: “Yeah but you don’t have to know. I don’t want to know what you are doing next year.”

McIntyre: “I can tell you if you want.”

LVG: “Yeah, but I’m not interested.”

Harsh, Louis, harsh.
