Suarez is ready for El Clasico, insists Iniesta

The Spain international believes the prolific attacker will be in fine shape physically ahead of a potential debut at the Bernabeu

BARCELONA MIDFIELDER ANDRES Iniesta is confident Luis Suarez is ready to make his debut for the Catalans in this month’s Clasico against Real Madrid – irrespective of his lack of match practice.

The former Liverpool star’s four-month suspension for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup is set to come to an end on October 24 and he netted twice in Uruguay’s 3-0 friendly win over Oman on Monday to show that he’s in fine form ahead of his return.

“Luis Suarez has been looking very good,” Iniesta told Onda Cero.

“It has not been easy for him that he was only allowed to train and couldn’t take part in matches. But he’s very motivated to give his all and happy that his suspension is nearly over.

“He has been training very well. He feels good and I have no doubt that he is ready for the match against Madrid.

“But it’s up to the coach to make a decision in the end.”

Suarez has so far appeared for Barcelona in the 6-0 friendly win over Leon and also featured for Barcelona B as they beat Indonesia’s Under-19 side.

The Catalans host Eibar at the weekend, then take on Ajax in the Champions League in midweek, before travelling to the Santiago Bernabeu on October 25.
