Manchester United's Luke Shaw ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury

The world’s most expensive teenager must wait before making his competitive debut for the club.

MANCHESTER UNITED SUMMER-SIGNING Luke Shaw has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the opening game of the Premier League season against Swansea City on Saturday.

The England international, a pre-season acquisition from Southampton, is likely to be sidelined for around four weeks.

The 19-year-old became the world’s most expensive teenage footballer when he joined United for £27 million in June but he’s endured a difficult first few months at Old Trafford.

Firstly, the club’s manager Louis van Gaal questioned his level of fitness during their tour of the United States recently. Then, Shaw missed the 2-1 friendly victory against Valencia on Tuesday due to the problem and now faces a frustrating wait before making his competitive debut for the club.

Earlier on Wednesday, United confirmed that Shaw had been given the number three shirt for the coming season following Patrice Evra’s departure for Juventus.
