Number of English clubs interested in Ireland underage star Madison McGuane

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND underage international Madison McGuane is attracting interest from several top English clubs as her star continues to rise.

The 42 understands the Treaty United teenager is on trial at WSL side Brighton & Hove Albion this week.

McGuane (17) is one of the brightest young talents in Irish women’s football.

It’s believed a number of other leading WSL sides are interested, while McGuane has also visited WSL 2 outfit Newcastle United.

The Limerick midfielder has lit up the League of Ireland Women’s Premier Division since her debut in March 2025 at the age of 15.

She finished her first season as the 2025 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Young Player of the Year and PFA Ireland Women’s Young Player of the Year.

McGuane has recently been nominated for the latter award again, and was named this season’s PFAI Team of the Year after helping Treaty to a sixth-placed finish.

She scored four goals in three games while captaining the Ireland U19s last month, and has repeatedly been name-checked by senior boss Carla Ward as a player “knocking on the door” for inclusion in her squads.

McGuane doesn’t turn 18 until August 2027, so a cross-channel move may be delayed until then.
