Marquee Spain fixture set for June as Ireland begin Nations League with home double-header
IRELAND WILL OPEN their Women’s Nations League campaign with a home double-header before hosting world champions Spain in June.
If the Girls in Green can navigate a play-off final against Poland next month, that Spain game would prove a send-off before the summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
Their League A campaign will begin at home to Switzerland on Tuesday, 2 March, before hosting Norway on Saturday, 6 March.
Carla Ward’s side will then face testing away trips to the back-to-back Nations League winners Spain on Tuesday, 20 April, and Switzerland on Saturday, 24 April.
Ireland begin the final set of group games with a marquee home clash against Spain on Friday, 11 June, before signing off away to Norway on Tuesday, 15 June.
The group winners will also secure a ticket to the 2028 LA Olympic Games.
Match venues and kick-off times for all six fixtures will be announced at a later date.
Meanwhile, over 20,000 tickets have been sold for the World Cup play-off second leg against Poland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 5 December (5pm kick-off). The first leg will take place in Gdańsk on Tuesday, 1 December.
