There were major events in Ireland’s two biggest cities today.

1. Wexford couple Kay and Joe O’Regan (both 80 years old) were the stars of the show in Cork.

2. Former European indoor 400m champion David Gillick congratulates his wife Charlotte Gillick, Kate Wickham and Sophie Wickham after they crossed the finish line in Dublin.

3. Damien Coleman from Blackrock in Cork city did the marathon while soloing a sliotar, breaking a Guinness World Record in the process.

4. Competitors were in good spirits despite the mixed weather in the capital.

5. Philip Harty won the Cork men’s marathon in a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes and 59 seconds.

6. Siobhan O’Doherty got home first in Dublin, finishing the 10km in 34 minutes and 28 seconds.

7. Nollaigh O’Neill from Passage West in Cork retained her women’s marathon title in a time of three hours and 41 seconds.

8.  Ger Flannery and Leslie Flanagan had a well-planned dress code.

9. It was a family affair in Munster.

10. TV3′s Derek O’hArtagain was donning questionable footwear for the women’s mini marathon.
