McIlroy, Horschel neck and neck in the race for FedEx Cup $10 million

WATCH: 25-foot eagle helps McIlroy into a share of the lead in the penultimate round of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

RORY MCILROY MADE up a two-shot deficit on Billy Horschel at the Tour Championship today. They square off again in tomorrow’s final round with more than $10 million riding on the outcome.

McIlroy atoned for a pair of three-putt bogeys by rolling in a 25-foot eagle putt on the 15th hole.

The world number one closed with a superb par save from thick grass behind the 18th green for a three-under 67.

Horschel led by as many as three shots during the third round until he started missing fairways and made two bogeys. He had a 69, leaving him level with McIlroy on nine-under-par.

Jim Furyk, still with a chance to win the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus, is two shots back after a 67 on Saturday, with Rickie Fowler (67) and Justin Rose (66) a further shot behind.
