THE RTÉ PANEL were left fumbling for answers in the wake of last night’s Champions League action.
Barcelona stumbled over the line and into the last four thanks to a late cameo from a ‘half-fit’ Leo Messi.
Afterwards, in an attempt to explain to Billo how important the Argentine is to the Nou Camp giants, Eamon Dunphy trotted out a familiar comparison: Henry Shefflin.
“I think what happens when you have somebody of Messi’s ability and greatness, you get so used to reaching for him and picking him out. When there’s nothing else on you stick it into him when there’s two men around him and he’ll do something. It becomes a habit,” he said.
“How many All-Irelands has Henry Shefflin played for Kilkenny, Bill? Big, big games and occasions. How many times has Henry Shefflin single-handedly turned it around by sheer force of personality and character?”
Before he was cut off he threw Brian O’Driscoll’s name into the ring too but failed to mention Aidan O’Brien for the hat-trick.
