SO, TECHNICALLY, IRELAND won’t get a chance to defend the Six Nations trophy this year, because the tournament organisers have gone and commissioned a brand new one.
Apparently, the old one was a relic of bygone age as it was introduced in 1993 when the Championship was still a humble Five Nations.
The above trophy, says a press release, represents all Six participating countries. So, it’s 15 years in the making.
