Newton steps down as Roscommon Senior Football manager

The Board confirmed the decision this evening, following a disappointing All-Ireland campaign for the county.

DES NEWTON HAS decided to leave his post as Roscommon Senior Football manager, it has been confirmed.

A statement, which was released this evening, read:

“Des Newton has informed Roscommon GAA County Board of his decision to step down as Manager of the Roscommon Senior Football Team.

“The Board would like to acknowledge the contribution of Des and his Management Team and wish them well in the future.

“The Board will meet next week to discuss the process of appointing his successor.”

Newton resigns following a disappointing campaign for the side, as they were beaten comprehensively by Tyrone in Round 2 of the All-Ireland qualifiers.
