It’s not the first time that a tennis player has been proposed to by a fan in the stands — but one youngster couldn’t believe his luck when his marriage request earned him a US Open practice with Novak Djokovic.
The Serbian star, who is well-known for his jokey manner on and off the court, brought the boy down from the stands, gave him his racket and invited him to try a few serves at the famous Flushing Meadows venue.
Djokovic then jogged to the other end of the court and attempted to return a few balls before the two shared a hug.
We wonder if Djokovic was tempted to take a leaf out of Steffi Graf’s book and try this response to one smitten fan:
