NOVAK DJOKOVIC WAS delighted with his game after he breezed into the second round of the US Open on Tuesday.
The world number two brushed aside Italian Paolo Lorenzi 6-1 6-0 6-1 to set up a second-round meeting with Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva, the world number 112, who defeated Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili in five sets.
Lorenzi started well with a break in the opening game but from there it was all Djokovic, with the Serb only needing 73 minutes to take the victory.
The defending champion went on a 12-game run after his opening slip, hitting 32 winners and making only 12 unforced errors for the match – and Djokovic avoided modesty at his post-match press conference.
“I tried to analyse my game, and my game was great from the start to the end,” he said.
“It’s also important for me to try to be as economical with the time I spend on the court as possible, but obviously not underestimating an opponent.
“I played really focused, tried to get to the net also. It was great all in all.”
