NEW MEATH MANAGER Mick O’Dowd remains unbeaten after his side snatched a draw against Louth thanks to Paddy Gilsenan’s injury-time goal at Pairc Tailteann tonight.
The Royals had been trailing by two points when substitute Gilsenan fired past Neil Gallagher in the Louth goal to put them ahead. However, with the last kick of the game Louth forward Jim McEneaney restored parity.
The home team had gone into the rescheduled Group A fixture, which was cancelled last night due to fog, on the back of a two-point win over Longford on Sunday. The Wee County were also looking to add to an opening day victory after seeing off UCD in Drogheda.
Louth were quickest out of the blocks and deservedly led 0-08 to 0-02 at the half-time break but Meath rallied after the restart and scored four unanswered points before Damien Caroll missed a penalty during the dramatic finale.
