ONE UNFORTUNATE MANCHESTER United fan felt the full force of Wayne Rooney’s right foot and wound up with his arm in a cast over the weekend.
Nine-year-old Jamie Thomas was given the chance to see the Premier League champions for the first time on Sunday when his father Andy came across two tickets for the home section at Molineux.
As the pair sat in the Jack Harris Stand’s front row, the United players emerged onto the pitch to warm up. And when England striker Rooney belted a strike wide of the goal, Jamie took the ball to the arm.
“We were sat on the first row right at the front. We were with my nephew, Jamie’s uncle, his sister and her brother,” Andy told the Shropshire Star.
The players were warming up and Rooney and Hernandez were taking a few shots. Rooney missed one and it was coming straight towards Jamie so he put out his hands to stop it hitting him and it broke his wrist.”
The youngster then spent a large period of the match receiving treatment on the injury from first aid before he headed off to hospital to have it put in a cast.
“I don’t think Rooney realised what he had done otherwise I am sure he would have come over,” added Jamie’s dad.
