What a moment at Ally Pally tonight as 63-year-old Paul Lim pulled off a massive shock

The Singaporean made his world darts championship debut back in 1982.

VETERAN PAUL LIM stunned Mark Webster to reach the second round of the PDC World Championship on Monday.

Lim overcame Webster 3-2 at the Alexandra Palace in a huge shock, with the 63-year-old having earlier beaten Kai Fan Leung in the preliminary round.

The Singaporean made his world championship debut in 1982 and hit a nine-darter at the worlds eight years later.

Webster and Lim split the first two sets and the latter edged the third and went 2-0 up in legs in the fourth.

However, Webster fought back to force a fifth set, only for finishes of 89, 114 and 80 to see Lim claim victory and set up a clash with Scottish superstar Gary Anderson.

“What a crowd. I could feel that they were all for me and it’s so great to feel that, it’s unbelievable,” Lim said, via the PDC.

“I know the PDC World Championship is the cream of all darts tournaments and to be part of it really is an honour. To play well with the crowd like that is a different story, I think the way the crowd were really played a part in me winning.

“I had to dig deep. It’s tough though, I’m running out of stamina.”

Earlier, Mensur Suljovic had few problems getting past Kevin Painter 3-0 and the impressive Daryl Gurney was too good for Ronny Huybrechts 3-1.
