IT’S BEEN A tough season of Evo-Stik League Southern Central football for Petersfield Town FC.
Bottom of the table by a country mile, they had won just two games from 31 league fixtures before last weekend. Scoring just 26 times, they conceded a whopping 86 at the other end.
They hosted mid-table Kidlington on Saturday and knew that another defeat would effectively guarantee relegation.
But there was no big performance. Instead, they trailed 3-0 at half-time.
And, somehow, things got worse during the break when manager John Robson decided he had seen enough and quit at the interval.
Probably much to his chagrin, the team did improve once he’d gone and actually found the net twice in the second half.
Still, Kidlington added one more to run out 4-2 winners – Petersfield’s 27th league defeat of the season.
