Poll: Should Brian O'Driscoll be moved to inside centre for the World Cup?

Ex-player Rob Henderson believes O’Driscoll should be played at 12 in New Zealand.

FORMER IRELAND PLAYER Rob Henderson has said that the Irish management should consider moving Brian O’Driscoll to inside centre for the upcoming Rugby World Cup.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Henderson said that Ireland would benefit more from playing O’Driscoll at 12, as he believes the Leinster man would be able to exert more of creative influence in this role.

He also suggested another bold move that Declan Kidney could potentially make, in answer the question of who would play alongside O’Driscoll, saying: “I’d play Keith Earls there.”

He added:

“Keith can add a yard more dash to the role and with O’Driscoll inside him, he’d have the perfect creative partner.”

Having played under Kidney at Munster, Henderson was also highly complimentary about his abilities as a coach, explaining:

“He draws the best out of you, what he can do with a look or an off the cuff remark, it can produce the best from players. He can have a massive psychological impact on this World Cup compared to the last time when we didn’t hit our straps at all.”

Despite never featuring in a World Cup match, Henderson played a successful part in the 2001 British and Irish Lions tour, in addition to earning 29 caps for Ireland.

So what do you think, should O’Driscoll be played at inside centre for the Rugby World Cup?

Poll Results:
