GMIT have dumped this year’s competition hosts Queen’s University out of the Sigerson Cup this afternoon with a five point victory.

GMIT will be at home to NUI Maynooth next week after today’s win in Belfast with substitutes Shane Hennelly and Aeneas Lawless grabbing the crucial goals for them.

Galway seniors Johnny Duane and Shane Walsh were in the GMIT ranks as they started well to lead by 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time.

Then substitutes Hennelly and Lawless grabbed the second-half goals that helped cause a major shock in Belfast.
