RAMIRES HAS THANKED Chelsea fans and reassured them that he is recovering well from the illness that kept him out of Sunday’s Premier League title-clinching win over Crystal Palace.
The Brazilian was named in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI for the match at Stamford Bridge but fell ill in the warm-up and was replaced by Juan Cuadrado.
An Eden Hazard goal on the stroke of half-time proved enough for Chelsea to secure their first Premier League title in five years but Ramires played no part in the celebrations that followed as he was rushed to hospital for further assessment.
“He went to the hospital,” Mourinho told reporters after the match.
“He was feeling so bad we had to take him out of the dressing room. I am going to visit him now. He was feeling really bad.”
In a post on his official Instagram page, however, the 28-year-old revealed he has returned home and will complete a full recovery in the coming weeks, though it is doubtful he will play for Chelsea again this season.
“Hello guys! As you saw, I was very sick yesterday minutes before the match because of a renal complication, but I’m well and home with my family,” Ramires wrote.
“Thank God it was nothing serious and I will be fully recovered in a few weeks. Thank you to all that sent me messages and were with me. I would like to thank the Chelsea’s medical team for the exceptional job.
“I was sad not to be part of the party on the pitch, but very pleased with the title, the only English title I had left to win. Congratulations, Chelsea!”
