THIS PHOTO OF Houston Texans star Andre Johnson holding a ridiculously long receipt from Toys ‘R’ Us blew up on Reddit today, and there’s actually a great story behind it.
Twelve kids, aged 8 to 16, who are in Child Protective Services were given 80 seconds to grab as many toys as they could, and Johnson picked up the tab.
It ended up costing $19,521, according to the team’s website.
Here’s what he said after the shopping spree:
“A lot of these kids get discouraged because of where they grew up and things like that. I grew up in a single-parent home and I was fortunate to achieve my goals.
“So, whatever goals you have, just keep them out in front of you, don’t let anybody distract you away from them, because there will be distractions that try to detour you away from your goals. That’s the biggest thing.”
Nice.
