DUNDALK MIDFIELDER RICHIE Towell has stressed that he is enjoying his football at Oriel Park but admitted that it would be “silly” to refuse ‘the right move’.

Towell has been a mainstay in the Lilywhites team since joining from Celtic ahead of the 2013 campaign and was named PFAI Young Player of the Year in his first season at the club.

The 23-year-old helped Stephen Kenny’s side to an EA Sports Cup triumph last week over Shamrock Rovers and has been a driving force in their pursuit of league glory with nine league goals in 28 appearances.

Such form has led to speculation that the former Republic of Ireland youth international will be snapped up at the end of the season, but Towell has not ruled out remaining in the League of Ireland.

“Everyone talks about going to England or going away but I love playing over here,” the Dubliner told reporters.

“It’s given me a new lease of life, I think, since I signed for Dundalk and I’m really enjoying my football. I love playing for Dundalk. And to sacrifice that and maybe going over there and not playing, it would be frustrating.

Playing over here, winning things and enjoying your football, you’re with your friends and family, it’s a hard one to balance.
