Robinho defends Balotelli; slams Manchester

Ex-City player says he can relate to the Italian star’s complaints.

AC MILAN STRIKER Robinho has defended Mario Balotelli amid the increasing criticism that the Italian has received of late, while simultaneously launching yet another another attack on the city of Manchester.

Following Balotelli’s recent remarks indicating that he would not rule out a move back to his home country, the ex-City man reacted by saying that such talk “doesn’t surprise me”.

Robinho told reporters:

“He’s not the first one to have difficulty in that city. I don’t know if he will decide to stay or go. But I admit that I understand him. You don’t live well in Manchester.”

Balotelli is the latest Man City superstar to have expressed his unhappiness at having to live in the city, following Carlos Tevez’s remarks earlier this summer, when he revealed that he found Manchester “incredibly challenging” to live in.

Balotelli has constantly provoked controversy during the short time he has spent at City thus far, and was recently substituted abruptly for showing a lack of professionalism in a friendly against LA Galaxy.

The player had a mixed season last year, initially struggling to adapt to the demands of the Premiership, before garnering praise for displaying a positive attitude in games during the latter half of the season.
