AS PERHAPS THE world’s best player, it was inevitable that Cristiano Ronaldo would one day have a statue unveiled in his honour.

Well that day is today as his home town of Funchal on the island of Madeira decided to pay tribute to their most famous footballing son with a bronze likeness.

Still, Ronaldo himself looks pleased with the statue and said:

“”This is a very special moment, to have a statue of me.”
