SHANE DUFFY GAVE Blackburn Rovers the lead during last night’s 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship.

It was Duffy’s first time netting for Rovers this season and the manner of the goal tells us that he could slot very nicely into the Republic of Ireland side.

Putting the goalkeeper under pressure during a set-piece before stabbing the ball home from half a yard, you won’t see a more Irish goal than that.

Although the 23-year-old defender was capped last year in a friendly against Costa Rica, Duffy hasn’t yet managed to become a regular under Martin O’Neill.
