Maria Sharapova fires new coach Jimmy Connors after just 1 match

Well that escalated quickly.

AFTER HER LOSS to Sloane Stephens at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati on Tuesday, many thought she and her new coach Jimmy Connors would have a lot to work on.

While many had their doubts about the relationship in the first place – despite winning eight Grand Slams, Connors’ only other coaching experience was a 18-month stint with Andy Roddick – few would have thought it would end so quickly.
