Sheffield United launch probe into defender's rape trial tweets

The Blades’ reserve defender Connor Brown could be in big trouble after comments he made in defence of jailed team-mate Ched Evans.

SHEFFIELD UNITED HAVE launched an investigation into comments made by their reserve defender Connor Brown on Twitter, regarding the Ched Evans rape conviction.

Brown launched a vicious attack on Evans’ 19-year-old victim as well as the UK’s legal system, which he branded ‘a load of f*****g s**t.’

He then moved his focus on to the girl at the centre of the trial.

“If ur a slag ur a slag don’t try get money from being a slag [sic]… Stupid girls… I feel sick,” he wrote, after branding the victim a ‘money grabbing little tramp.’

A story on the Blades’ website read:

Sheffield United confirmed today that an internal investigation is underway into social media comments made by reserve team player Connor Brown following the verdict in the Ched Evans trial.

A club spokesman said: “The club is aware of a very serious matter regarding comments made through the Twitter account of one of its players. As a result we have launched an inquiry.”
