SHELBOURNE LADIES are set to meet Northern Irish side Linfield as they aim to earn a place in the Women’s Champions League.
The Dublin club, who finished ahead of UCD Waves and Peamount United to win the Women’s National League last season, are vying to qualify for the last-32 of Europe’s elite club competition for the first time.
They will play in a four-team mini-tournament in Belfast later this year with the group winners and the best-placed runner-up through to the knockout stages to join the 21 clubs who got byes.
Along with Linfield, Shels have also been grouped with KKPK Medyk Konin of Poland and Finnish outfit PK-35 Vantaa.
The matches will be played between 22 and 28 August.
In 2015, Wexford Youths were handed a 6-0 hammering by Medyk Konin at the same stage.
Ireland’s women have also been drawn with Northern Ireland in their World Cup qualifying group and Colin Bell’s side make the short away trip on 19 September.
