DANIEL STURRIDGE WILL make his first Liverpool start in almost two months this evening.

The striker, who played 20 minutes as a substitute against Swansea last weekend, has been named in Jürgen Klopp’s side to face Southampton.

A nightmare run of injuries have sidelined Sturridge since the Merseyside derby on 4 October.

He returns as part of an experimental side for the Capital One Cup quarter-final at St Mary’s.

Shane Long is on the bench for the hosts.

Southampton: Stekelenburg, Cedric, van Dijk, Caulker, Bertrand, Davis, Clasie, Wanyama, Mane, Tadic, Pelle.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Yoshida, Long, Romeu, Martina, Ward-Prowse, Juanmi.

Liverpool: Bogdan, Randall, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Lucas, Allen, Lallana, Origi, Sturridge.

Subs: Mignolet, Smith, Milner, Benteke, Firmino, Henderson, Ibe.

Quinn: Nobody will work harder than Gary Neville
