ONE YEAR ON from their heartbreaking loss, the San Antonio Spurs got their revenge and dethroned the Miami Heat.

For the first time since 2007, and the fifth in franchise history, they are the NBA Champions.

After dominating the first four games of the finals to take a 3-1 series lead, Gregg Popovich’s side finished the job with a 104-87 win at home in the AT&T Center last night.

It wasn’t without its nervy moments. LeBron James scored 31 points, including 17 in a blistering first quarter, as the Heat opened up an early 16-point lead and threatened to spoil the party.

But the Spurs never panicked and once again Kawhi Leonard showed the way, finishing with 22 points, 10 rebounds — and the Finals MVP award.

“We wanted to redeem ourselves,” Tony Parker said afterwards. “I’m just glad we were able to do that.”
