Scarlets sign 24-year-old Irish lock Tadhg Beirne from Leinster

Beirne played four times for Leinster last season after graduating from the province’s academy.

TADHG BEIRNE WILL line out for Scarlets next season after the Welsh side confirmed the signing of the Kildare native this morning.

Leinster announced that Beirne would be departing the province at the end of the season just gone, having made four substitute appearances in the 2015/16 Guinness Pro12 campaign.

Beirne, a former Irish U20 international who won a British & Irish Cup medal in 2013, graduated from the Leinster academy and was handed a one-year contract last summer.

Speaking about his move to Wales, the 24-year-old lock said: “I was particularly impressed with what the region has to offer in terms of facilities off the field here at Parc y Scarlets.

“Scarlets have a wealth of talent and were unlucky to miss out on a play-off place last season but I’m excited by the ambition and am really looking forward to getting pre-season underway.”
