Find out who Liverpool will sign instead of Stewart Downing, which Irish player is being valued at £10million by his club and what unusual step Owen Hargreaves has taken in his latest bid to find a club.

THERE ARE PLENTY of uses for £50million. Surely people can think of something better to spend it on than Carlos Tevez, or any footballer, no matter how talented they may be.

Speaking of people prone to spending ludicrous amounts of money, Roman ‘I’m not trying to tap anyone up, I’m just holidaying in Croatia for its beautiful scenery’ Abramovich has indeed been spotted, along with his yacht, in Croatia. Speculation of Luka Modric moving to Chelsea has increased by pure coincidence of course.

United, meanwhile, now appear content to let Chelsea have the Croat, as they opt to bid for Wesley ‘Modric 2.0′ Sneijder.

And once Spurs lose the Croatian star, Harry Redknapp will consolidate their status a mid-table team by replacing him with Joe ‘definitely not better than Messi despite what Steven Gerrard says’ Cole.

Ex-Tottenham player Adel Taarabt may join an elite group of players that includes Pat Jennings and Sol Campbell, by playing for both Arsenal and Tottenham, as he appears set to join the former. The often-infuriating-but-occasionally-brilliant star currently plays for QPR.

Perhaps partly to fund his bid for Taarabt, Arsene Wenger will look to rid himself of at least one of his multitude of rubbish defenders, with Armand Traore possibly going to either Hamburg or Werder Bremen.

Cole’s club Liverpool may look to sign Valencia’s very cool-sounding Juan Mata, after their bid for Stewart Downing failed.

And in a bit of all-too-rare Irish player news, Shane Long has been valued at £10m by Reading, with West Brom the latest club interested in the player. And even if he did become the Baggies’ main striker, Trapattoni would still probably pick Simon Cox ahead of him, in conjunction with the Italian’s skewed-but-successful brand of logic.

Finally, anyone interested in signing Owen ‘100% fit’ Hargreaves should check out the video below.
