1. #LEGEND David Wallace decided enough was enough and called time on his glittering career.
With two Heineken Cups and a smattering of Celtic Leagues, Triple Crowns and on Grand Slam he was one of the leading lights in a golden generation of Irish rugby.
Speaking yesterday, Wallace said that he would have continued on for another few years if it hadn’t been for that pesky knee, adding that he feels more like a 25-year-old than 35, lucky him. Read more right here.
2. #ONE DECADE ON Just when you think it’s safe to go back to the Pacific, the ‘S’ word rears its ugly head again.

3. #CRUCIBLE Ronnie O’Sullivan holds a slender advantage in his bid to reach another World Championship final, but the momentum had swung in favour of Matthew Stevens before the first session ended.
O’Sullivan led 4-0 before Stevens began his fightback to make the score 5-3 at the end of the session. The other semi final also stands at 5-3, Ali Carter with the lead over Stephen Maguire.
4. #GAA The Championship is up and running this weekend, namely the Connacht Championship as Kevin Walsh takes Sligo to New York.
Closer to home, the National Hurling League final takes centre stage on Sunday and Jimmy Barry Murphy will be looking to inspire Cork to another victory over Kilkenny.
They will have to do it without Donal Óg Cusack, the goalkeeper ruled out for the entire Championship. Martin Coleman is handed the number one jersey in his place. Patrick Horgan captains the team.
5. #PLAYOFF West Ham took an important step in their bid to return to the Premier League. Hammers’ midfielder Jack Collison grabbed both goals in a 2-0 win away to Cardiff. The other playoff semi-final takes place tonight with Blackpool hosting Birmingham.
One of the sides they are hoping to replace are Wolves. Their ever-present Irish fullback spoke to us yesterday about the form of Kevin Doyle and Euro 2012.
6. #RUGBY Ian Humphreys is set to depart from the shadow of his elder brother at Ulster and head for London Irish, the move comes less than a week after he was dropped for the Heineken Cup semi-final in favour of Paddy Jackson.
Meanwhile, the Rabodirect Pro12 named their team of the year yesterday. There is room for only one Irish qualified player, and only two men from table-topping Leinster. Scotland’s two representative teams make up a third of the squad, the same amount as Ireland’s four provinces combined.
