2. #GREEN SHOOTS Ireland’s U-21 side had an impressive victory over Austria at Sligo’s Showgrounds last night.

Manchester United’s Robbie Brady returned to the fold with a brace in the 2-1 win. Brady impressed on his debut with loan club Hull last weekend.

3. #GAA There’s yet more bad news for the Dublin hurlers. David Treacy will miss Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final showdown with Tipperary at Croke Park through injury.

Treacy pulled his hamstring in training and will miss 4-6 weeks.

4. #RIOTS The Premier League will decide tomorrow if the opening weekend of top-flight English football will be hit be cancellations in the wake of a week of unrest in Britain.

5. USPGA The last major of the golf season will kick off tomorrow. Darren Clarke has laughed off talk of an American decline in the game.

6. HULKAMANIA Yesterday Hulk Hogan – at last – addressed the the issue of the London riots.
