EUROPEAN LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION Katie Taylor will return to Dublin on Sunday evening following her latest golden triumph.

The three-time World Champion claimed a 10-5 decision over rival Sofya Ochigava of Russia in Rotherdam.

“Sofya is one of the best opponents I have ever met and I’m absolutely thrilled with the win,” Taylor said afterwards.

“I can’t believe it really. I would like to thank my Dad and coaches and the entire Irish squad for all their fantastic support all week.”

Irish team manager Anna Moore also paid tribute to the fighter, saying: “Katie is boxing at another level than what she was at last year and she was absolutely exceptional.

“The entire squad are on a high after this win and we’re absolutely thrilled.”

The Irish squad are due to arrive home into Dublin Airport at 9.20pm on Sunday evening.
