Wexford hurler recovering after 5 operations and 48 days in hospital with leg injury

A challenge match takes place next Sunday between Wexford and Kilkenny to raise funds for Tomás Waters.

WEXFORD HURLER TOMÁS Waters has endured a tough time in 2013.

After suffering a horrific leg injury in July’s All-Ireland qualifier against Clare, complications arose for Waters and he was forced to spend 48 days in hospital.

He’s on the road to recovery but is still on 15 tablets a day and is facing nine more weeks on antibiotics. Waters is self-employed but the injury has left him unable to work.

As a result the Wexford and Kilkenny senior hurlers have got together to organise a challenge match in aid of Waters for next Sunday afternoon in New Ross at 2pm. Tickets cost €10 for what is a brilliant cause.

Here’s Waters talking about his injury and his gratitude for the benefit game being organised.
