Top of the pops: Kilkenny and Tipp fans wage musical warfare

Watch both counties’ unofficial All-Ireland anthems ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

WITH JUST OVER 48 hours to go until Sunday’s All-Ireland Hurling final, excitement in both Tipperary and Kilkenny has started to reach fever pitch.

For Tipp, a second successive title on Sunday would definitively establish them as the best hurling side in the country, while Brian Cody and Kilkenny would love nothing more than to prove that last year’s defeat was an untimely blip.

Before the real action begins though, how about a bit of light YouTube warfare?

There have been no cats put into bins this time around (unfortunately), but some unofficial All-Ireland anthems have made their way onto the web.

In the blue and yellow corner, Johnny B — the man behind last year’s Premier Rap — returns with his latest lyrical stylings in “The Premier Return.”

“Is it a bird? A plane? Is it a man? G’wan ya boy, Seamus Callanan!

Tide is turning, now you’re learning, this is Tipperary hurling.”

Not to be outdone, the Kilkenny DJs have released a song of their own, borrowing heavily on LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem to create — wait for it — “Everyday I’m Shefflin.”

Genius.

Roll on Sunday.

Which of the two songs do you prefer?
